Creative Exploration Women's Retreat-2.png

A day-long Women's Retreat exploring creative play through feminine energy

Saturday 25th September, 10am-4pm

Arthouse Retreat Studio, Southend-on-Sea

£75 per person including lunch and materials

In this day-long Women’s retreat we will be stepping into another world, a world of fluidity, feminine energy and intuition. Participants will be invited onto a journey in which one discovers their own artistic voice, free from the fear of judgment and getting a “good result”: we will concentrate on the process rather than the finished pieces. We aim to rediscover the simple joys of creative play and wonder, experimenting with colours and materials.

In the morning, we will share our hearts in a safely held circle, travel inward through a deep womb meditation, and explore our creativity in a calm and peaceful place within ourselves through the practice of drawing. The afternoon will see a more practical approach: we will paint and explore mark making, bringing a more energetic, childlike creative play. Different painting and drawing techniques will be introduced, the aim being to leave the workshop with a set of tools one can easily implement at home. No previous experience required, just a willingness to explore and be surprised.

Lunch and materials included

Over 18 only. This workshop is open to anyone who identifies as a woman. If you no longer have a physical womb, it is still an energetical space which can be tapped into.

This workshop will take place in the spacious and light-filled studio of Sally-Anne Ashley, Arthouse Retreat Studio in Southend-on-Sea, and a delicious wholefoods lunch will be provided by Chai Southend (vegan options available. The menu will be emailed in advance).

Spaces are limited so book your place soon!

Sally-Anne Ashley is a British artist currently living and working in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Her large and small scale paintings are an intuitive response to the world around her. Inspired by nature and a love for the faded and worn, her palettes are a blend of gentle tones. Lines and abstracted forms are created organically and composed in layers until a sense of balance is found.
